FLUX – Movable Concrete Barrier

Flux Barrier is a temporary moveable barrier made from precast concrete with steel reinforcement.

Each Flux Barrier unit measures 1000mm long, 864mm tall, and 457mm wide at the base. Two connecting pin hinge bars are integrally cast in, and continuous through each segment. Hinge Bars are bent such that the upstream bar ends nested between the downstream ends on the adjacent segment. Barrier segments are connected to one another with a 32mm x 635mm steel hinge pin. No bolts, pins, or adhesives are utilized to secure the barrier to the road base.

MASH Test 3-10:
A 1,100kg small car impacting the CIP and LON of the barrier at a nominal speed and angle of 100km/hr and 25 degrees, respectively. This test investigates a barrier’s ability to successfully contain and redirect small cars. The Flux barrier performed acceptably for MASH TL-3 longitudinal barriers.

MASH Test 3-11:
A 2,270kg pickup truck impacting the CIP and LON of the barrier at a nominal speed and angle of 100km/hr and 25 degrees, respectively. This test investigates a barrier’s ability to successfully contain and redirect light trucks and sport utility vehicles. The Flux barrier performed acceptably for MASH TL-3 longitudinal barriers.

ALSO – Tested to EN1317 Standards

EN 1317-2 TB-11:
A 900kg small car impacting at a nominal speed and angle of 100km/hr and 20 degrees, respectively. This test investigates a barrier’s ability to successfully contain and redirect light cars. The Flux barrier successfully contained and redirected the 900kg vehicle.

EN 1317-2 TB32:
A 1,500kg mid-size car impacting at a nominal speed and angle of 110km/hr and 20 degrees, respectively. This test investigates a barrier’s ability to successfully contain and redirect mid-size cars. The Flux barrier successfully contained and redirected the 1,500kg vehicle.
